Concrete Canoe

The National Concrete Canoe Competition is held every year, and competing teams are drawn from Universities across the country.

What is the National Concrete Canoe Competition?
The NCCC is an annual competition between American Society of Civil Engineer (ASCE) chapters nation wide. Each chapter’s team constructs a canoe made out of concrete, and these are compete against each other. There are 18 regional competitions, and the winner from each advances to the national competition to compete against the best concrete canoe teams in the nation. The winning teams receives a $5,000 towards its undergraduate civil engineering program and a trophy.

What is the goal of the National Concrete Canoe Competition?
The NCCC is intended to provide civil engineering students with the opportunity to gain exciting and practical hands-on engineering experience by working with concrete mix designs and project management. Participants gain valuable leadership skills by working with (and competing against!) motivated, like-minded engineering students.

FAU Concrete Canoe team gives all interested engineering students the opportunity to work on a fun and interesting project, as well as network with engineering students from around the nation.

Concrete Canoe Updates

Those of you who signed up for either the Design Paper Team or the Research and Development Team have been receiving e-mails from me regarding rule clarifications. The Display Team has also been receiving e-mails regarding the display for the competition. If you would like to be taken off of this "mailing list" please let me know and I will no longer forward these rule clarifications to you. If you would like to be added to this list, or if your would like to join one of these Sub-Canoe Teams please let me know.

We are also attempting to post the rule clarifications on our website, www.asce.fau.edu. Our webmaster, David Mairena, is very busy with his course work and he is working his hardest to keep this up to date.

For more information regarding these teams please feel free to ask me.

We are still taking nominations for Canoe Captain. This is a great opportunity for sophomore or junior level students. No experience necessary, just dedication! Being a leader is rewarding, I highly suggest trying it out!
