The Kathy J. Caldwell ASCE Florida Section Student Chapter of the Year award was awarded to FAU officers at the ASCE Florida Section Student Conference. This past year FAU ASCE chapter has put in a lot of effort in their community service events, professional developments, socials, events, and especially in the Southeastern student conference. We placed 5th place overall, the highest FAU has ever placed. From top to bottom, the organization consists of very dedicated students, officers, and professors that strive to do their best job.

On March 16 - 18, 2017 we hosted the ASCE Southeast Regional Conference at FAU. As a student organization one of the biggest goals for the ASCE student chapter is to be able to participate in the ASCE Southeast Regional Student Conference. This conference entails the use of students knowledge learned in class to apply to real life projects in a smaller scale. Two of the biggest projects include building a Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe. This includes going through the design process and project management along with actual construction. Our next competition will be in Gainesville, Florida and we would be extremely grateful for any alumni and supporters to help us in this journey. We couldn't have done it without our Sponsors, Professors and our dedicated student members. We will continue to expand our student chapter and continue being involved with community service, professional development, and all our social events. From all our officers we thank you again for all the support and help everyone has given us.

Congratulations to our wonderful Vice President Lisandre Meyer!! She has been a huge asset to the ASCE at FAU student chapter for the past four years and we are privileged to say she received the FIRST EVER Past President Scholarship. She served as Concrete Canoe Captain, where she effectively led a large team. Her contributions to the team were immeasurable, and her efforts did not go unnoticed. Her tenacity, ability to lead by example, and work ethic all trickled down to every member of the team and had a wonderful effect on the student chapter. The student chapter finished at its highest ever ranking in the overall competition that we believe was due partly to her leadership by example and exhaustive dedication to accomplishing the team’s goal.
