The University of Florida will be hosting the 2018 ASCE Southeast Student Conference

Each year the ASCE @ FAU participates in the Annual Southeast Student Conference where 20+ southeastern colleges compete in a series of competition that encompasses every aspect of Civil Engineering.  The fi25rst ASCE Student Conference was held in the early 1940’s. Since then, the more than 320 ASCE Student Chapters have formed 18 Student Conferences. Each Student Conference has a host school that is responsible for planning the event and making the arrangements for the student and faculty attendees.

The three-day event will draw over 1,200 students from 26 universities in the Southeast region of the United States, as well as from Puerto Rico and China.

The University of Florida will be hosting the 2018 ASCE Southeast Student Conference in Gainesville, Florida in late March or early April 2018.

Students should bring their resume as they will have an opportunity to meet with industry representatives and find out about job opportunities.

Student teams will step outside the classroom and compete in a series of competitions that encompass every aspect of civil engineering.

Concrete Canoe
The National Concrete Canoe Competition is an annual competition between American Society of Civil Engineer (ASCE) chapters nation wide. Each chapter’s team constructs a canoe made out of concrete, and these are compete against each other.

Steel Bridge
The Steel Bridge Competition is an annual event that challenges engineering students to design and fabricate the most structurally and functionally efficient bridge. Each year the rules are modified to keep the competition fresh and competitive.

Miscellaneous Small Competitions
In addition to the national Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge competitions each annual conference host school supplies small competitions. These small cometitons are to be determined as of August 2016.
